Long-distance move from Calgary, AB to Ottawa, ON

Alberta to Ontario

I usually ignore 5 star reviews when looking for services because they’re usually over exaggerated, but I promise this one is warranted.

Firstly, a huge thank you to Candace for her patience and support while I got my moving details figured out. She was very responsive and helpful, and gave me a very reasonable quote.

Upon pick up in Alberta, my driver and his team (Ruben I think?) were great! They came when they said they would, and even let me sit in my car while they loaded since it was a cold Feb. day. He was very thorough and explained exactly what they were doing and how the process worked. Got everything loaded in about 1.5hrs.

Delivery in Ontario was much smoother than I expected. Arsh and his team took extra good care of my sofa (which I love very much), got the move done in about 1.5hrs and even helped reassemble my bed frame, sofa, and TV.

GCVL also organized the transportation for my vehicle which arrived much sooner than I expected! It was easy and hassle free.

Overall my move came just under $6000 which was absolutely worth it.

Long-distance move from Victoria, BC to Halifax, NS

Moved Coast to Coast

We moved in July from BC to Nova Scotia. We checked a few moving companies out and decided to give this one a try. We are so happy we did! They were incredible. The communication with the office and our driver, Daniel, was fantastic. Everything arrived when we expected it to and all our belongings, almost 10k pounds including a Harley motorcycle and a $3000 kayak, arrived in perfect condition. It is unbelievable! The movers on both ends did a great job of loading and unloading the truck. It was nice having them do all the heavy lifting! Daniel was incredible and was so accommodating, we owe him so much. We would definitely recommend this company and ask for Daniel!

Long-distance move from Alberta to British Columbia

Damage to property.

The move from my home in Calgary to Victoria, BC was a disaster from the beginning. A glass dining room light fixture was broken beyond repair. I was informed to make a claim by the moving supervisor.
I had asked that my property be stored in Victoria until I had found a permanent place to live. Apparently, A to B Moving in Victoria were the delivery agent, and responsible for the storage arrangements. My property was finally delivered to my new home, in Sidney, BC on Tuesday, January 5th, 2016.
Upon delivery, this is what was discovered:
Approximately half of the cardboard boxes were punctured or bashed inwards. Some of the boxes suffered water damage; delivered wet.
The underside of a couch was torn open.
The top of a pine dresser was dented in many places; the draw fronts scuffed on the sides.
The leg of a (round) table was split open.
A bedroom side table, part of a new very expensive bedroom set, was scuffed on one corner. The front edge of another matching table was damaged.
A living room end table was damaged
The top of a hand-built worktable was damaged.
A broom head was missing, unscrewed from its handle and presumed stolen.
All damage was photographed, and recorded.
To be fair, the damaged furniture was repaired, and paid for, by the moving company, except the work table and the round table. Great Canadian Van lines offered to pay half of the replacement cost of the destroyed light fixture, a sum of $212.19. I had compensated the new owners of my home for the sum of $300.00. I received a cheque for this sum from Great Canadian Van Lines.
In conclusion: The sheer scale of the damage indicates deplorable negligence, incompetence, and a total disregard for other peoples’ property. In short, an absolute disgrace.

Amazing!

From the initial phone call with Candace to unloading our stuff at our new home, GCVL was professional, polite, friendly, and very clear on how everything would work regarding moving to another province.

The estimate was accurate. Jas and Tim came over to load up our belongings. They were both punctual, polite, and very professional. They both didn't make a big fuss about our German Shepherd trying to constantly play with them, quite the opposite . Jas and Tim loaded everything with no issues. Everything was tagged and put into an inventory. Jas got all our stuff to destination safe, secure, with zero damage. We arrived later than the moving van due to highway conditions, but Jas was very accommodating and took care of everything for us. Thank you Candace, Jas, Tim, Jas's partner on the unloading side, and thank you GCVL. 100 % will use them again for any big moves and highly advide anyone who is doing a big move to give them a call.

Thank you from Riko, Miki, Ham, and Apollo.

Long-distance move from Ontario to British Columbia

Effortless cross country move

Let’s be honest—moving is stressful, especially when you’re relocating across the country. If you want reliable, top-notch service from beginning to end, I highly recommend Great Canadian Van Lines.

I initially searched online for long-distance moving companies in Canada and received several quotes—some surprisingly low. But be cautious: many of those quotes don’t reflect the real cost. It wasn’t until I spoke with Candace at GCVL that I finally got an honest, transparent breakdown of what to expect. Their pricing was very fair.

When Wade and his team showed up, they made the entire process smooth and stress-free. Their professionalism, kindness, and even shared laughs really put me at ease—I knew my personal belongings were in good hands.

I moved from Ontario to BC, and they were communicative, punctual, and efficient. Even the delivery went off without a hitch, and I didn’t need to be there in person.

Don’t waste your time looking elsewhere. GCVL is a Canadian company that truly understands how to make a big move feel simple. From my first call to the final delivery, they focused on making the process easy and cost-effective. I wouldn't recommend anyone else.

Thank you for everything Wade & team, Candace and staff at GCVL.

Cheers, Mary

Long-distance move from Port Coquitlam, BC to London, ON

My Move

Eddie and his courteous team did an excellent and efficient job getting my move loaded in the lower mainland of BC. They carefully wrapped all my furniture and handled the boxes noting those that were marked as fragile.

When they arrived Eddie and his London crew were just as friendly and efficient in bringing my goods into my new residence. They placed all of my furniture and belongings in the rooms as marked, assembled the furniture that was taken apart for the trip and left clearing up and materials that were needed for the move. I am very happy with the job they did. I found no damages to my goods that were handled in my move. I recommend Great Canadian Van Lines.

As a note: this is the 1st time out of 4 cross country moves that my weight was less than the estimate! This speaks to the integrity of the company.

Outstanding Experience with Great Canadian Van Lines

I recently moved from the Vancouver area to Halifax, and Great Canadian Van Lines made what is usually a very stressful experience absolutely seamless. The entire process, from booking to delivery, was handled with professionalism, care, and excellent communication.

The crews on both ends of the move were fantastic. They worked efficiently, treated our belongings with great care, and maintained a friendly and professional attitude throughout. I’ve relocated several times for work, and this was my first experience with Great Canadian Van Lines- by far the best move I’ve ever had. I won’t be looking anywhere else for future moves.

A special mention goes to Eddie, our driver and point person. His communication, leadership, and management of the entire process, from loading to unloading, were outstanding. Eddie truly went above and beyond to ensure everything went smoothly.

Behind the scenes, Sara and Kyle were also excellent, always available to answer questions and provide updates. Their responsiveness and professionalism made a huge difference.

Thank you to the entire Great Canadian Van Lines team for delivering such a positive, stress-free moving experience. You’ve truly set the standard for how a move should be handled!

Great experiences moving (twice)

Great Canadian just moved me for a second time. The first time, I was referred by a colleague who was happy with their own expeirence with Great Canadian. The service was professional and courteous from the initial call, to pick up and delivery. And when my schedule changed, Great Canadian was quick to respond and accomodated my schedule (thankfully). If my stuff could talk, I think it would say it was babied all the way. If only airlines were as great to work with as Great Canadian!

3 bedroom house move

This is the 2nd time we have used Great Canadian Van Lines, and once again we were very happy with the professionalism, from booking the move to the final drop off of our furniture. Yad & Jas were quick, efficient, and everything arrived in perfect order (as did our first move with GCVL). The company was easy to communicate with and I had answers to any questions within minutes. Cost to move from Alberta to BC was roughly $8000 - again, less than I expected. Highly recommend this moving company, and thanks to Yad and Jas for climbing all those stairs in our new home!

Long-distance move from British Columbia to Ontario

BC to Ontario

Could not have asked for my move across the provinces to go any better. I dealt with 5 star people!! ...from the initial consultation with Candace to the actual moving of boxes with Steve. Candace was exceptionally supportive/informative/caring and she is one of the main reasons I chose GCVL. You're smart to have her on the front lines! In regards to Steve, both the day of the move plus the arrival of my belongings, he lead his crew smoothly with punctuality, quiet efficiency, and caring support of my furniture & me too ....all which took so much stress off me. I can't tell you how much I appreciated having Steve on both ends of my actual move. ALL my belongings arrived safely! Highly recommend.

East to West move

We requested the same person as we had on an earlier move because he (Harry!) was so awesome and Kathy made it happen. We knew that he would treat our belongings as his own, taking special care to ensure they arrived without any damage. The GCVL team was in constant communication regarding status/updates. Everything went without a hitch and we were very pleased.

Best movers ever. Delivery was on schedule and not a thing was missing or broken. Wade was very pleasant and easy to get along with. It was obvious this wasn’t the first time he had moved anyone. Wade and his first and second assistant were accommodating and hard workers. Everything was placed where it should be and assembly of beds went without a hitch. All of our belongings were handled with care. I recommend this moving company hands down.

My moving experience, at both ends of the move was first rate. The team in Vancouver had a big job moving my contents down 30 stairs (I moved down as much as I could manage) and they were fabulous! My move-in at the other end was very smooth and efficient (and there was an elevator!!). The company was highly recommended by two very close friends and they did not disappoint. Well done, team!

Fantastic move

I’d give 6 stars if I could.

Eddie and his team were fast, friendly, professional, and handled all my items with care.

Not only did he show up early in both my locations for my move out and move in, but he finished early as well. He went above and beyond in every way.

I especially appreciated how he took the time to carefully wrap our more delicate pieces items. Not a single one of them was damaged.

Overall, this is the way moving should be done.

Move from AB to ON

We had a great experience with GCVL. They moved us from Alberta to Ontario. All items were carefully packed and arrived undamaged. It took about a week to deliver our stuff. They used runners to protect the flooring and both homes were left in great condition. We originally obtained 5 quotes and while they were not the cheapest, they were still very competitive amongst other long distance movers. I highly recommend using them.

Long-distance move from Chilliwack, BC to New Glasgow, NS

BC to Nova Scotia

A cross-Canada move is a daunting experience especially when you are moving a car and a 3-bedroom house. We obtained quotes from several movers (some ridiculously low from companies with terrible reviews) and e chose Great Canadian because of their detailed quote and ability to arrange our door-to-door car move as well (separate from the furniture).

Eddie and his team showed up for out Vancouver departure. We had arranged for the team to pack the kitchen and tvs while we handled the rest. The move out was very smooth and stress-free with Eddie directing traffic and taking prime control for the load.

The weight was within 200 pounds of the estimate which was great.

Eddy was the driver of the truck with our belongings. As is the case with most cross-country moves he had several pickups and deliveries to make along the route to the east coast, but he managed to make it two days before the scheduled drop off in Nova Scotia. Eddy stayed n contact with us and we were ready when he arrived.

The off loading task was made more complicated by the weather and the fact that the truck was not able to make it safely up our driveway. The east coast crew picked it up though and worked really hard and with care to get all of our furniture safely delivered (and beds rebuilt).

The car, by the way, also made it on time and in good shape too.

No breakage or damage—a first class experience all around and very deserving of the 5 stars!

Long-distance move from Ontario to Alberta

Move from Ontario to Alberta

This is our first long distance move and it was a scary and stressful thought. We contacted a Hummel movers which recommended Great Canadian for our move and as we had great confidence in Hummel we went with Great Canadian. We got a quote from them that was within what we expected to pay and Sara from the office was very helpful and answered all our questions which were many. She also helped us get our car transported as it was winter and we did not want to drive the distance.

Our mover and driver was Codie and he was very helpful explaining everything he was doing. He wrapped everything that required wrapping and was very polite and friendly which made us feel at ease. When he left our home he informed us that he would be delivering our things to our new home. He contacted us by text to keep us informed as to when he would arrive at the new destination. He moved all our stuff into our new place and put it where we requested it to be placed. We could not have asked for any better service from him. The car was also delivered to our destination with no issues. We would highly recommend both Great Canadian and Codie for service.

A real pleasure to work with, from the initial quotes and preliminary arrangements and estimations to the pick up and drop off, GCVL took the time to understand our situation and were careful with loading and unloading our items (thanks Codie, amazing having your help at both ends!). Long-distance move from Cambridge, ON to Prince Albert, SK

Cambridge ON to Prince Albert SK, Feb 18/25

Feb. 5/25

I moved from Cambridge ON to Prince Albert SK in the middle of winter. GCVL won my business for the following reasons:

Initial contact, Sarah, was awesome - professional, personable, and responded PROMPTLY to additional email inquiries. I never felt I was ‘just another client’ or that my questions were tiresome, and I was not brushed off simply because I was only moving a one bedroom apt.. Load-on and load-off dates were confirmed in advance and it took only 7 days from load to unload, vs. 2- 6 weeks like some companies. Contents remained on the truck until unloading vs. being transferred to a warehouse or to a shuttle. IMO, when contents are moved often, there is a greater chance of damage. No hidden fees dumped on at the end. In fact, driver noticed an error on the invoice regarding the truck's tare weight for which I received a refund and also one for being underweight from the estimate. The driver, Daniel, (who was GCVL’s "Driver Of The Year" last year) was absolutely top notch. He and his personally chosen team worked unbelievably quickly yet thoroughly. All pieces were wrapped in heavy duty moving blankets , and if needed, ENCLOSED IN CARDBOARD, and then taped up. Daniel's inventory was carefully done and boy, can he maneuver that truck! Daniel was the lead on the load and the unload. It is obvious he enjoys his job and takes pride in his work. EVERYTHING arrived in very good condition, even my piano for which I was particularly concerned.

I HIGHLY recommend GCVL without hesitation - honest, careful, personable, & professional. You won't be disappointed. Message me if you want to know what other companies I interviewed.

Thanks Great Canadian Van Lines, Sarah, Kyle, and thank you Daniel and your team! I couldn't be happier with the service!

Incredible customer service from the first call, to the packing up, and the delivery and unloading across the country! Moved from Ottawa to Calgary and the team delivered all our goods, with no broken items, in the time range they set!

What sets them apart is taking the time to educate me on the regulatory standards for the industry and how to spot scams.

Impeccable move

Thank you Great Canadian Van Lines for a smooth and stress free moving experience from Quebec to Alberta. Both my coordinating agent and my truck driver were great to work with; communication was seamless with both being very responsive to all my questions. Amar is the best packer

We just had a shipment delivered from Ontario to British Columbia. I'm so glad we went with Great Canadian Van lines because the customer service and communication we're above my expectations. It was so nice to have the same driver who packed our items in Ontario, deliver it to our house and unload it in BC. Amar was so nice he called the house and offered us a coffee before arriving on schedule! We had an antique china cabinet with a glass door and a large dresser that were passed down to us after my mother-in-law's passing. It arrived intact. The packing job was phenomenal. I don't think I could have done a better job. All the boxes were well labeled with numbers that corresponded with the checklist provided. Nothing was missing or damaged, ans there were a lot of collector plates in the boxes. We live on a dead end cul-de-sac so large shipping trucks cannot make it into our street. Amar has a shuttle truck so it maneuvered into our street with no problem. Five stars and I would highly recommend Great Canadian Van lines. Candice and the dispatcher also deserve five stars for great customer service.

Long-distance move from Chilliwack, BC to Perth, ON

Moved part of an estate from Chilliwack and Winnipeg to Ontario

My daughter selected the company and received the initial quote. She handed over the move to me at that point. Everything from my first contact with Candace, second pick-up in Winnipeg, final invoice, to the delivery to our home went very well. I was totally impressed with how well organized the company was. They provided so much helpful information by email, telephone and short well made videos. The online method for recording the items we were shipping was well organized and user friendly. Communication was always polite, cheerful and timely. Questions were answered quickly. Our items, many that were fragile, were very well protected and delivered without damage. Our driver, Harry, and his assistant were very efficient and friendly. They were patient and helpful when we requested that a few pieces of furniture be re-arranged. Overall, we were extremely happy with the entire process. And the final price was less than our initial quote! Honest and upstanding service!

Long-distance move from British Columbia to Manitoba

BEWARE!! Absolute Worst Company Ever!

They are by far the worst company I have ever dealt with in all my career. They are dishonest and rotten to the core! Don't be fooled by this company that has a GREAT company name and presents themselves as Canada's best moving company. Their website says they have professionally trained staff who will lay down floor protectors and wrap your fine furnishings etc. and "place the pieces of furniture where you want them placed in your new home". WRONG!! NOT TRUE!! DON'T BE FOOLED by this! They don't deliver any of this!! NONE OF IT!! They are by far the worst company I have ever dealt with in all my career.

They have a professional with over 20 years experience come and give you a professional "firm quote" on what your move will cost. And, I gladly purchased insurance at around $380 understanding that things happen in long distance moves. But in the end they did thousands upon thousands in needless, reckless, damage and refused to file a claim for it after I spent all that money on insurance! This company is dishonest and rotten to the core!

The day of the move a different company shows up on behalf of Great Canadian Van Lines - their agent - RIVERBEND moving and these guys were doing drugs! They took all my quality furniture apart and could not put it together again upon delivery. It was damaged beyond repair. The day of delivery, a band of thugs and I mean real gruff, rough and tumble thugs, showed up threatening me, telling me unless I pay thousands $$ more than the quote they will not unload my furniture and belongings and they will charge me hundreds per day in storage fees!! My beloved service dog who picked up on their threatening, frightening, aggressive energy, had a grand mal seizure - first one ever, and these guys did not give a darn! They kept demanding the money or else.

Then they literally piled everything ceiling high, furniture in pieces until I could not move around and they put the heavy boxes on the top right to the ceiling. I am not strong enough to deal with this so I had to hire another company to come and help me. That is when I found out the full extent of the damages!! What a shock to realize they had damaged almost every piece of furniture that I own and that my HP laser jet printer was missing. My entire Sauder Heritage Hill office suite was damaged beyond repair, other furniture totally trashed. I could go on.

Then if all of that is not bad enough, they put through "unauthorized" charges on my credit card to the tune of over $3,000. There is much more but it would fill several pages so I will stop here. In short, DON'T HIRE THIS COMPANY! you will be traumatized for life! Zero customer service, dishonest, reckless, drug smoking, don't give a hoot about you, rip off company! I am so sorry I hired them and that they got any of my hard earned money!! They really should not be in business!
